Color Masterbatch Granule is a new product developed in the 1960s for coloring plastics and fibers. It is a polymer compound made by uniformly loading pigments into resin in extraordinary amounts. The main components of color masterbatch are colorant, carrier and dispersant.

According to relevant information, the average annual growth rate of demand for color masterbatch in other countries in Asia is about 7%-9%, but the average annual growth rate of demand for color masterbatch in China is about 20%. China is expected to be the fastest growing market in terms of demand for Color Masterbatch Granule. Especially for color and additive masterbatches, China has to rely on imports. China has become the largest producer and consumer of color masterbatch market in the Asian region. There are 330 masterbatch manufacturers in China, of which 300 are plastic-grade masterbatch plants and 30 are fiber-grade masterbatch plants, which are mainly located in Fujian, Guangdong, Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Liaoning, Tianjin, Beijing, Hebei and other provinces and cities. There are nearly 50 enterprises with annual production capacity of 1000 tons or more of masterbatches in China, and the national production capacity of masterbatches is 300,000 tons per year, and the demand for masterbatches in China was less than 120,000 tons in 2001. The serious excess production capacity has led to the general underemployment of the domestic masterbatch industry, in addition to the rapid growth of new production units and the lack of product orders; one of the important factors is that the domestic masterbatch products have a single structure and incomplete varieties, and the general-purpose products account for a large proportion, while the proportion of high and ultra-high concentration, multi-functional masterbatch and masterbatch for fine denier fibers is less. On the contrary, in countries with high level of masterbatch technology, there are complete varieties of pigments, dispersants and other raw materials, and a series and specialized product structure has been formed. In terms of variety development, China's masterbatch manufacturers have developed masterbatches for fiber, film, wire and cable, polyolefin, PVC, and injection molding products. Experts believe that the future development of masterbatches will be in the direction of multi-functionalization, high color content and high technology content, and the development of masterbatches is accompanied by the improvement of production technology.
