According to statistics, in 2017, China's caustic soda production capacity of 41.167 million tons, production of 34.3678 million tons, compared with 2016, production capacity are into the rising trend, and according to industry experience and theoretical conversion, the production of 1 ton of sodium hydroxide can produce 0.88 tons of chlorine gas, which shows that China's chlorine gas production supply is becoming more and more adequate.

China's titanium resources are very rich, ranking first in the world, accounting for about 48% of the world's titanium reserves, now the proven reserves of 900 million tons, but the economic use of ilmenite about 100 million tons, rutile ore for tens of millions of tons, rutile resources containing titanium accounted for 2.01% of the total titanium resources, so the country's natural rutile resources are very valuable.

Titanium tetrachloride is the main raw material for the production of titanium sponge and titanium dioxide by chlorination. About 90% of titanium tetrachloride is used in the manufacture of titanium dioxide, followed by titanium metal and powder. In addition to the two major applications, other areas of use are expanding, showing a promising market.

High titanium slag is commonly known as titanium ore enrichment formed through the physical production process, and is a high-quality raw material for the production of titanium tetrachloride, titanium dioxide and titanium sponge products. At present, China's titanium slag production capacity is still very small, and China's rich titanium resources and the world's second largest titanium dioxide producer status is extremely disproportionate.
