PP Physical Modification

In the mixing and blending process, organic or inorganic additives are added to the PP (polypropylene) matrix to obtain PP composites with excellent performance, mainly including: filling modification, blending modification, etc.

• Enhanced modification

Fibrous materials added to plastics can significantly improve the strength of plastic materials, so it is called reinforcement modification. The material with large diameter to thickness ratio can significantly increase the bending modulus (rigidity) of plastic materials, which can also be called reinforcement modification.

PP (polypropylene) reinforced modified in the application of reinforcing materials are mainly glass fiber and its products, in addition to carbon fiber, organic fiber, boron fiber, whiskers, etc.. Glass fiber reinforced PP, the more used glass fiber for alkali-free glass fiber and alkali glass fiber, of which the amount of alkali-free glass fiber is the largest. The diameter of glass fiber is controlled in the range of 6~15μm, and the length of glass fiber must be guaranteed in the range of 0.25~0.76mm, which can ensure the performance of the products and also make the glass fiber dispersion good. It is generally believed that the modification effect is only available when the length of glass fiber in the product is greater than 0.2 mm. The glass fiber content (mass fraction) is 10% to 30%, and the performance decreases when it exceeds 40%. In addition, the addition of organosilane coupling agent can make the glass fiber and PP both form a good interface, improve the bending modulus, hardness, load deflection temperature, especially the dimensional stability of the composite system.

Since glass fiber reinforced Modified PP Particle can improve mechanical strength and heat resistance, and glass fiber reinforced PP has good resistance to water vapor, chemical corrosion and creep, it can be used as engineering plastics in many applications, such as fan blades, heater grilles, impeller pumps, lamp shades, electric furnace and heater housings, etc.
